Robbie Hunter and Daryl Impey placed 13th and 82nd respectively in the first stage of the Tour Down Under in Australia.
Racing for the Garmin-Transitions team, Hunter was credited with the same time (3hr 15min 30sec) as the winner Andre Greipel of HTC, Columbia.
Impey who now rides for the same Team RadioShack as Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong was way back in the bunch but also given the same time.
Armstrong was sandwiched between the two South Africans in 46th position.
The first stage was a 141 kilometre affair between Clare and Tanunda.
Defending champion Allan Davis was left trailing, all but out of the general classification contention after his Astana team missed the big race move on a steep climb halfway through the stage.
Stage two of the six-stage event was a 133.5km haul between Gawler and Hahndorf.
